Santa Maria de El Paular Monastery was the first Monastery in Castile, founded in 1390 by Juan I and finished in 1442 by Juan II. Since 1954 there is a small Benedictine Community that lives in the Monastery, the Monks take care of the maintenance, as well as to attend visitors.
